Photocurrent-Detected 2D Electronic Spectroscopy Reveals Ultrafast Hole Transfer in Operating PM6/Y6 Organic Solar Cells

The performance of nonfullerene-acceptor-(NFA)-based organic solar cells is rapidly approaching the efficiency inorganic cells. chemical versatility NFAs extends light-harvesting range to infrared, while preserving a considerably high open-circuit-voltage, crucial achieve power-conversion efficiencies >17%. Such low voltage losses in charge separation process have been attributed low-driving-force and efficient exciton dissociation. Here, we address nature subpicosecond dynamics electron/hole transfer PM6/Y6 While previous reports focused on active layers only, developed photocurrent-detected two-dimensional spectroscopy follow fully operating devices. Our measurements reveal an hole-transfer from Y6-acceptor PM6-donor time scale. On contrary, at same scale, no electron-transfer seen donor acceptor. These findings, putting ultrafast action optoelectronic devices, provide insight for further enhancing NFA cell performance.
